Our Take

icon

Bali is a land of stunning natural beauty with friendly residents who are proud of their ancient culture, spirituality and traditions. With jaw dropping scenery, this 'Island of the Gods' is aptly named.

Hinduism is a core aspect of Balinese culture. You will often see or hear elaborate religious ceremonies and spiritual music, with dance often taking place, and daily offerings of colourful fresh petals flooding the streets is a lovely unique aspect of the island.

Escapes to Bali offer the chance to explore an incredibly diverse landscape; culture and history combine seamlessly with beautiful beaches, jungle forests, gourmet eateries and luxury spa retreats.

Southern Bali is the nation's most popular location, with good reason. This is where you find excellent beach resorts. However, venture inland amid the lush rice terraces, dramatic valleys and volcanoes, and you'll discover that artsy Ubud has a unique atmosphere.

This is typically Bali's wettest month. However, rains are not constant. Expect hot and sunny days, with beautifully warm sea waters and short but heavy downpours.

As a result of the rainy season, this is typically one of the cheaper and quieter months to visit Bali. Again expect hot and sunny days, with tropical downpours during the day and balmy evening weather.

It is still the rainy season in Bali so there is a high chance of tropical downpours. The weather is typically hot and humid, with balmy evenings. The warm waters make it a perfect time for swimming the sea with fewer crowds about the place.

Dry season - the dry season has arrived with almost half the rainfall seen in March. The weather is hot and sunny and humidity is on the decline, which means fewer mosquitos. The surf is best on the West coast.

Temp

Dry season - There is typically minimal rainfall during this time. The days are still beautifully hot, with slightly milder evenings. Generally, prices have not yet hit peak season, which means visitors can enjoy better rates and quieter beaches.

Dry season - June is a great time to visit Bali and one of our favourite months. It's not too humid, yet plenty of sunshine and hot temperatures perfect for beachgoers. Watersports and diving are usually great during this time as the waters are a little calmer.

Temp

Peak season - The island is particularly busy during this time as it coincides with school holidays, whilst also providing a perfect escape for numerous Australians escaping the winter months of the Southern Hemisphere. However, if you're not averse to busier beaches then this is a great time to visit as it is one of the driest months with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures. Humidity is lower in this time, with warm evening temperatures.

As the dry season comes to an end, September is still a relatively dry month with pleasant temperatures, clear skies and a gentle breeze. It is generally not as busy as in previous months as the school holidays draw to an end.

Wet season: There are on average 15 wet days during October, however, the volume of rainfall is minimal. It is a great month to visit as it is much quieter but still plenty of sun and hot temperatures during the day. Whilst there are generally fewer tourists around, there are a few festivals in October for short periods - the Ubud Readers & Writers Festival, the Nusa Dua Fiesta, and three Hindu festivals which are fascinating to witness should you be in close proximity to any.

Wet season: The rains have officially arrived, and everything begins to slow down on the island. Rains are usually short heavy bursts, so if you don't mind the heat and humidity then make the most of the island whilst there are fewer tourists and more affordable rates. Sea temperatures are usually around 28°C making it particularly enjoyable for swimming and water sports.

Temp
31°C

Whilst December is wet season in Bali it is still considered peak season with a number of tourists visiting across the winter months and festive holidays. You're likely to find accommodation gets booked up well in advance and with higher rates, so if planning a visit, do book sooner rather than later. The days are beautifully hot, sunny and with tropical downpours.
