What's APA? Advance Provisioning Allowance. The charter fee generally only covers the hire of the yacht and crew. Extra expenses (e.g. Tourist tax, port, mooring and other legal charges and fees, diesel and fuel, crew gratuities, food, beverages etc) are covered by an APA, or Advanced Provisioning Allowance. This is usually the equivalent of 30%-35% of the charter fee. Your Captain will keep a record of expenses and at the end of the charter you'll be refunded the difference if the APA has not been entirely used, or if it's been exceeded, you'll be asked to pay the additional cost.
