Africa Travel Consultant

We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Africa Travel Consultant to join our growing team at Nelson Travel.

Africa Travel Consultant

You will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle of a client’s journey, from their initial enquiry and itinerary planning through to booking, travel and post-trip feedback.

Day to day, you will:

  • Follow up on warm sales enquiries and build relationships with prospective clients.
  • Create tailor-made itineraries, personalised around each client’s interests, requirements and budget.
  • Advise clients using your own destination knowledge and experience.
  • Book and liaise with hotels, lodges, operators, airlines and other suppliers.
  • Act as the main point of contact for your clients throughout the entire booking process.
  • Manage every detail of a booking with a keen eye for accuracy and organisation.
  • Deliver a consistently high level of personal customer service.
  • Work towards sales targets while comfortably managing the administrative side of your bookings.
  • Follow up with clients after they return and help build long-term relationships and repeat business.
Ultimately, your goal is to ensure every client returns home having had a trip that meets – and hopefully exceeds – their expectations.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are particularly looking for someone with:

  • 3+ years experience within tailor-made travel industry selling Africa
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • A natural ability to communicate and build relationships.
  • A competitive drive and motivation to succeed.
  • Resilience, confidence and a persuasive approach.
  • A genuine passion for travel and creating exceptional holidays.
  • The ability to take ownership of a booking from beginning to end.

Training & Development

We place a strong emphasis on first-hand destination knowledge and ongoing development. Your training will include sales and systems training, as well as a familiarisation trip to the country or region you will specialise in. There will also be opportunities for further training and educational travel each year.

Salary & Commission

  • Salary:  £25,000 – £35,000
  • Commission: £5k – £15K+
  • Earning potential up to 50k+
  • Competitive basic salary depending on experience.
  • Uncapped commission.
  • Basic salary increases based on performance and progression.
