Six Senses Laamu

Six Senses Laamu is a luxury island resort set within the remote Laamu Atoll in the southern Maldives, surrounded by a beautiful turquoise lagoon, white-sand beaches and an exceptionally rich marine environment. Combining the relaxed, barefoot style for which Six Senses is known with excellent dining, wellness and sustainability, it feels luxurious without being overly polished or formal.

About
Occupying the tropical island of Olhuveli, Six Senses Laamu is the only luxury resort within the atoll, giving it a wonderful sense of remoteness. The design makes extensive use of timber and natural materials, with sandy pathways and bicycles contributing to the laid-back atmosphere. Sustainability and conservation are central to the resort, with a dedicated team of marine biologists working to protect the surrounding reefs, seagrass meadows and marine life. Despite the emphasis on nature, service and facilities remain firmly at luxury level.
Rooms
Accommodation comprises a collection of spacious Beach and Water Villas, ranging from secluded villas hidden amongst the tropical vegetation to overwater retreats positioned along wooden jetties above the lagoon. Many categories feature private pools, while the water villas have direct ocean access, expansive decks and elevated viewing areas. Beach villas provide private gardens and direct access to the sand, with larger family villas and multi-bedroom retreats offering plenty of space for those travelling together.
Dining
Dining is a highlight, with several distinctive restaurants and bars making excellent use of the island’s setting. LEAF serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in an intimate organic garden setting, while Longitude provides relaxed international dining overlooking the water. Zen specialises in Japanese cuisine and sits above the ocean, while Chill Bar is an atmospheric spot for cocktails, light dishes and sunset drinks. The resort also has its own ice cream and chocolate studio, alongside private dining and destination experiences around the island.
Activity
The surrounding Laamu Atoll provides superb opportunities for snorkelling and diving, with a vibrant house reef and regular sightings of turtles, rays, dolphins and abundant tropical fish. Guests can also enjoy surfing at the nearby Yin Yang break, kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, fishing and dolphin cruises. Wellness is another major focus, with the Six Senses Spa offering treatments, yoga and personalised wellness programmes, while conservation experiences provide the opportunity to spend time with the resort’s marine biology team.
