Joali

Joali is an ultra-luxury private island resort set within the beautiful Raa Atoll, surrounded by pristine white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons and rich marine life. Combining striking design, spacious private-pool villas, excellent dining and highly personalised service, the resort has a sophisticated yet relaxed feel.

About
Reached by a seaplane flight from Malé, JOALI occupies the naturally lush island of Muravandhoo and was conceived as art resort, with original installations and artworks integrated throughout the island. The architecture combines contemporary design with Maldivian influences and natural materials, while each villa benefits from the attention of a dedicated Jadugar, or private butler. Despite its luxurious positioning, the atmosphere remains relatively informal, with bicycles providing an enjoyable way to explore the island and plenty of space to find a quiet corner.
Rooms
Accommodation comprises an impressive collection of Beach and Water Villas, all with private pools and generous indoor and outdoor living areas. One-bedroom villas are particularly spacious, while larger two, three and four-bedroom residences provide excellent options for families and groups. Interiors are elegant and contemporary, combining natural materials, bespoke furnishings and carefully considered details, with Beach Villas opening directly onto the sand and Water Villas offering uninterrupted ocean views and direct access to the lagoon.
Dining
Dining is a major part of the JOALI experience, with several distinctive restaurants offering everything from Mediterranean and international cuisine to Japanese and Southeast Asian dishes. Vandhoo provides relaxed all-day dining, while Saoke is a striking overwater Japanese restaurant designed by renowned architect Noriyoshi Muramatsu. Bellinis specialises in Italian cuisine, and TUH’U focuses on the flavours of the Levant. Private beach dinners, destination dining and personalised menus can also be arranged, accompanied by an extensive selection of wines and cocktails.
Activity
Days can be as relaxed or active as guests choose, with excellent snorkelling and diving complemented by kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, watersports and private boat excursions. The JOALI Spa by ESPA offers an extensive selection of treatments alongside yoga and fitness, while tennis, padel and cycling provide further options on land. Art remains an important part of the experience, with an Art Studio, gallery and interactive installations scattered around the island. Families are very well catered for with a dedicated children’s club.
