Awasi Iguazú

About

Set within a protected stretch of Atlantic Rainforest near Puerto Iguazú, Awasi is designed as a secluded jungle retreat rather than a conventional hotel. The individual villas are surrounded by dense vegetation and connected to the main lodge by stone pathways, while natural woods, local textures and Guaraní-inspired details reflect the character of the region. The lodge is approximately 15 minutes from Iguazú Falls, with easy access to both the Argentine and Brazilian sides, while its location on the river provides a peaceful base away from the main tourist flow.  

Rooms

Awasi Iguazú has 13 Standard Villas and one larger Master Villa, all designed with a spacious, treehouse-inspired feel. The Standard Villas measure approximately 100 square metres and feature generous living areas, private terraces with sun loungers and individual plunge pools, surrounded by rainforest foliage. The 120-square-metre Master Villa has two bedrooms, a larger pool and a separate living area, making it particularly suited to families or two couples travelling together.  

Dining

Dining at Awasi Iguazú celebrates the flavours and ingredients of Misiones, with the lodge’s Relais & Châteaux restaurant focusing on seasonal produce, freshwater fish, local cheeses, tropical fruits, citrus and yerba mate. Chef Mauricio Alvez draws on his local heritage and traditional culinary influences to create a menu rooted in the surrounding region. Meals can also become part of the day’s exploration, with picnics and lunches arranged in beautiful rainforest settings beside waterfalls, creeks or beneath the forest canopy.  

Activity

Every villa is assigned its own private guide and 4x4 vehicle, allowing excursions to be tailored completely around each guest’s interests and pace. Experiences include exploring the Argentine and Brazilian sides of Iguazú Falls, discovering hidden waterfalls by boat, kayaking, birdwatching and rainforest walks, as well as visiting 18th-century Jesuit ruins and learning about the heritage of local Guaraní communities. Further excursions can explore the Triple Frontier, the Paraná River and lesser-known areas of the Atlantic Rainforest, making the experience about much more than the famous waterfalls alone.
