Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica

Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica is an eco-luxury rainforest lodge on the banks of the Madre de Dios River in Peru’s southern Amazon. Surrounded by extraordinary biodiversity and adjacent to Tambopata National Reserve, the lodge combines traditional Ese’Eja-inspired architecture with comfortable accommodation and immersive experiences deep in the rainforest.

About
Set within a 17,000-hectare private ecological reserve near Puerto Maldonado, Reserva Amazónica provides an atmospheric introduction to the Peruvian Amazon. Its 35 wooden cabañas are inspired by Ese’Eja traditions, with thatched roofs and natural materials that blend naturally into the forest. The lodge is reached by a 45-minute boat journey along the Madre de Dios River after arriving in Puerto Maldonado, reinforcing the feeling of travelling deep into a remote wilderness.
Rooms
The lodge offers a selection of spacious wooden cabañas, including Superior, Superior Río, Amazónica Suites and the larger Tambopata Suite. Accommodation features thatched roofs, mosquito-netted beds, open-plan bathrooms and screened siesta areas with hammocks, while the Superior Río cabañas overlook the Madre de Dios River. The 78-square-metre Tambopata Suite adds a private covered terrace, plunge pool, outdoor shower and separate siesta lounge for an especially secluded rainforest experience.
Dining
Dining celebrates the flavours of the Amazon, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients used throughout the menus. Breakfast is served buffet-style, while lunch and dinner feature à-la-carte dishes alongside salads, tropical fruits and homemade breads. The restaurant and bar provide a relaxed gathering point after excursions, complemented by afternoon tea and cocktail hour, while the lodge’s organic black tea offers a distinctive local touch.
Activity
Exploration is at the heart of a stay, with guided excursions led by Inkaterra Explorer Guides in the surrounding rainforest. Experiences include the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway, a series of bridges approximately 30 metres above the forest floor, as well as rainforest trails, the Anaconda Walk, twilight river excursions, nocturnal walks and visits to Lake Sandoval. Guests can also discover the lodge’s rainforest garden, bio-orchard and palmetum, while the ENA Spa offers treatments incorporating Amazonian botanical ingredients for a more restorative experience.
