Kitirua Plains Lodge

Kitirua Plains Lodge is a contemporary luxury safari lodge set on a private concession bordering Amboseli National Park, where sweeping views of Mount Kilimanjaro and abundant elephant herds define the landscape. Combining striking architecture with exceptional wildlife experiences, it offers an intimate safari rooted in conservation, sustainability and local Maasai culture.

About
Opened in 2026 as part of the A&K Sanctuary collection, Kitirua Plains Lodge marks Abercrombie & Kent’s return to the Amboseli region where Geoffrey Kent pioneered the modern luxury safari more than six decades ago. Designed by renowned safari architects Luxury Frontiers, the lodge has been carefully integrated into its surroundings, with organic forms, natural materials and locally inspired craftsmanship creating a seamless connection with the landscape. Set within a 128-acre private concession overlooking Amboseli’s plains and the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, the lodge places sustainability, community partnerships and thoughtful design at the heart of the guest experience.
Rooms
Accommodation comprises just 13 spacious suites, including two expansive two-bedroom family suites, each positioned to maximise privacy and uninterrupted views across the plains. Interiors combine contemporary elegance with handcrafted Kenyan furnishings, earthy textures and natural materials inspired by Maasai traditions. Every suite features generous indoor and outdoor living spaces, freestanding bathtubs, indoor and outdoor showers, and private verandas designed for watching wildlife against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Dining
Dining celebrates seasonal Kenyan produce through refined menus served in elegant indoor spaces and spectacular outdoor settings. Guests can enjoy relaxed breakfasts overlooking the plains, bush picnics during safari excursions and atmospheric dinners beneath the stars around the traditional boma. Premium beverages are included, while attentive service and ever-changing locations make each meal a memorable part of the safari experience.
Activities
Twice-daily game drives explore both the private concession and neighbouring Amboseli National Park, renowned for its large elephant herds, predators and exceptional birdlife. The private conservancy also allows experiences such as guided bush walks, cultural visits with the Maasai community and, subject to availability, night drives and hot-air balloon safaris. Back at the lodge, guests can unwind with spa treatments, yoga and wellness experiences while taking in panoramic views of one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes.
