Inspired by the Swahili word for ‘suspended in mid-air’. Located high above the floor of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, Angama Mara is a remarkable owner-run safari lodge overlooking Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

Rooms at Angama Mara

Perched right on the edge of the escarpment with fifteen tented suites, a private airfield and access to the Mara below, this lodge is everything it ought to be.

The elegant tented suites have been designed to make the most of the extraordinary views of the Maasai Mara from every angle – from the bed, the sitting area, the shower and even the w/c. The front of the tents featuring floor-to-ceiling glass, the roof and other three sides are canvas – classic safari olive on the outside and cream on the inside. Spanning over 100 sqm, the tented suites all include spacious decks for in-room dining, massage treatments and red rocking chair safaris. The interiors are uncluttered, classic and above all, comfortable with splashes of Maasai Red, French Khaki, copper and brass.

Families at Angama Mara

Angama Mara has two sets of interconnected family suites which are identical to tented suites, except with the addition of a fully enclosed walkway linking them together. This means you can still enjoy your space and privacy, with the peace of mind of being able to safely and easily move between the two tented suites.

Patty's Tent

Guests with restricted mobility, have the option of staying which has been designed specifically for guests with physical limitations. This tented suite includes modifications such as grab rails and ramps, but without sacrificing any special touches or comforts.
