About

A joint venture between Natural Selection, the local Sesfontein community, and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, the camp combines elegant design with strong conservation credentials. Built using locally sourced and recycled materials, held together by solar energy, and supported by initiatives like giraffe research and community recycling, Hoanib Valley Camp delivers eco-conscious luxury in one of the world’s last true wilderness areas.

Rooms

The camp features six spacious canvas tents—five twins and one family—each raised on composite timber decks and designed to blend with the ochre-toned surroundings. Inside, comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, and handcrafted furniture by local artisans reflect the environment through earth-coloured décor and natural textures.

Dining

Meals are communal yet refined, served in the open-air mess tent or on the deck beside the pool. The cuisine blends local Namibian game and flavours with international flair, all enjoyed with fine wines and complemented by stunning sunsets and campfire evenings under infinite desert skies.

Activity

Guest days revolve around tracking remarkable desert-adapted wildlife—elephants, giraffes, rhinos, lions and mountain zebra—on game drives and guided walks. Highlights include rhino tracking with Save the Rhino Trust, giraffe research experiences, and cultural visits to Himba and Herero communities. The lodge also offers birdwatching, stargazing, and an infinity pool overlooking the valley.

Giraffe Conservation

In partnership with the local Sesfontein community and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, the Hoanib Valley Camp focuses heavily on supporting its local community and the ongoing conservation of the area, with a particular focus on its resident giraffe population. The camp also aims to leave virtually no footprint on its environment and will run entirely on solar power.

Meet the Himba

Hoanib Valley Camp offers the option of sensitive and welcoming interactions with some of Namibia’s traditional cultures. While these trips focus predominantly on Himba villages, they can be extended to take in Herero or Damara communities too.
