Wolwedans Plains Camp

Formerly known as Private Camp, Plains Camp is one of Wolwedans’ most exclusive retreats, offering a completely private home in the heart of the reserve. The open-plan villa was designed to blend seamlessly with its surroundings, with canvas walls that can be opened to create a fluid connection between the interiors and the surrounding landscape. A dedicated guide and vehicle, private chef and house manager allow each stay to be tailored entirely to the guests, while the secluded setting makes the camp particularly well suited to families and groups.  

Rooms

Plains Camp accommodates up to eight adults across four spacious en-suite rooms, comprising two master rooms and two standard rooms. Each room has a private Wolwedans Chiller, while the villa also includes a sala that can provide additional sleeping space for children. Timber decking links the bedrooms with the central living areas, dining space, fully equipped kitchen and swimming pool, creating a relaxed indoor-outdoor flow throughout the property.  

Dining

Dining at Plains Camp is entirely private and personalised, with a dedicated chef preparing meals around each group’s preferences and daily plans. The central living area includes a dining space and fully equipped kitchen, while the surrounding decks provide beautiful settings for enjoying meals in the open air. With the villa reserved exclusively for each group, dining can be as relaxed and spontaneous as the desert itself, from leisurely breakfasts to memorable dinners overlooking the plains.  

Activity

Plains Camp offers a choice between exploring the NamibRand or simply embracing the extraordinary solitude of the desert. Experiences include morning and evening scenic drives, full-day safaris, desert sundowners, Bushman walks, e-biking and specially arranged moments of solitude. Guests can also visit the nearby Wolwedans Village to learn more about the organisation’s conservation and community work, while hot-air ballooning, horse riding, spa treatments and desert sleep-outs can be arranged at additional cost.
