Busanga Bush Camp

Busanga Bush Camp is an intimate seasonal safari camp set on a leafy island in the heart of the Busanga Plains, one of Zambia’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. Combining classic safari charm with exceptional guiding, it offers an authentic wilderness experience surrounded by vast floodplains, abundant wildlife and spectacular sunsets.

About
Hidden beneath a canopy of sycamore fig trees in the remote northern reaches of Kafue National Park, Busanga Bush Camp overlooks the iconic Busanga Plains – a vast mosaic of seasonal floodplains renowned for some of Africa’s finest predator sightings. Operated by Wilderness, the camp has become one of Zambia’s classic safari destinations, offering an intimate and low-impact experience that reflects the spirit of traditional African exploration. Open only during the dry season, when wildlife congregates on the plains, the camp provides privileged access to one of the continent’s last great wilderness areas while supporting ongoing conservation efforts in this fragile ecosystem.
Rooms
Accommodation consists of just four spacious Meru-style safari tents, ensuring an exclusive and highly personalised stay. Each tent is elegantly furnished with comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms featuring traditional bucket showers and flushing toilets, and a private veranda overlooking the floodplains. Natural materials and understated décor allow the spectacular landscape to remain the focal point, creating an authentic safari atmosphere without compromising on comfort.
Dining
Dining embraces the traditions of classic safari life, with freshly prepared meals served beneath canvas, on open-air decks or beneath the camp’s signature lantern-lit tree canopy. Guests can enjoy bush breakfasts as the morning mist lifts from the plains, leisurely lunches between game drives and atmospheric dinners under the stars. Sundowner drinks overlooking the floodplains are a daily highlight, accompanied by warm Zambian hospitality and exceptional views.
Activities
Expert-led game drives reveal the extraordinary wildlife of the Busanga Plains, including large prides of lion, cheetah, African wild dog, buffalo, elephant, roan antelope and vast herds of red lechwe and puku. Seasonal boating excursions are available when water levels permit, while guided nature walks, birdwatching and stargazing offer further opportunities to immerse yourself in one of Africa’s most pristine wilderness areas. With very few camps operating in this remote region, guests enjoy an exceptionally exclusive safari experience.
