On the edge of Lake Tanganyika, nestled in a remote forest, you will find Greystoke Mahale; the perfect place for adventurers to enjoy whilst exploring the Mahale Mountains.

Come on a legendary journey to meet the most privileged primates on the planet: the wild chimpanzees of Mahale - and the trackers, guides and helpers who share their leafy Nirvana.

The Rooms

Like something from Robinson Crusoe, the camp boasts six beautifully designed, thatched bandas, each with its own private wooden decking, sheltered by the nearby forest, allowing a private and peaceful space to unwind. Its open front means you can enjoy the spectacular surroundings from the comfort of your own room, and even climb onto the bandas upper decking to enjoy another viewpoint.

Each room is equipped with an en-suite bathroom, with powerful showers and hot water on demand. You will also find lockable storage, and a writing desk. In the communal areas, you will find a large thatched banda overlooking the beach, where guests can take meals and relax throughout the day, along with a cosy bar, perfect for sundowners, that lies perched on the rocks, near the water's edge.

Chimpanzee Tracking

Their main quest is always on foot to a wild living group of chimpanzees, whose complex social and political manoeuvrings are played out within a few feet of them. Their behaviour is interpreted by their greatest fans, their team of chimpanzee experts who can recognise each individual and the significance of every action.
