Jack's Camp
Jack’s Camp is a legendary and opulent safari retreat set on the edge of Botswana’s vast Makgadikgadi Pans. Surrounded by golden grasslands and shimmering salt flats, the camp offers a unique and surreal wilderness experience in one of Africa’s most otherworldly landscapes, where the silence and scale create an atmosphere of deep tranquillity and discovery.

One of Africa’s most iconic camps. Rebuilt in 2021, refreshed and reinvigorated, but still retaining the stylish old-world glamour we all know and love.
About
Originally established in the 1960s by legendary explorer Jack Bousfield and completely rebuilt in 2021, Jack’s Camp blends 1940s safari nostalgia with modern-day luxury. It is known for its signature blend of bold interiors, museum-worthy collections, and old-world charm. With Persian rugs, vintage campaign furniture, and a curated library, the camp delivers both aesthetic richness and thoughtful hospitality, making it one of the most distinctive properties in Southern Africa.
Rooms
There are ten expansive canvas tents, each richly furnished with dark wood antiques, four-poster beds, and en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers. Every tent includes a private plunge pool, a sitting area, and a viewing deck that opens out to uninterrupted views of the pans. The interiors are theatrical and immersive, filled with curiosities and fabrics that transport guests into a bygone era of African exploration.
Dining
Meals at Jack’s Camp are indulgent and imaginative, served either in the grand Persian-tea-tent-inspired dining area or al fresco beneath the stars. The cuisine blends international influences with local inspiration, often featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients. High tea is a treasured daily ritual, while dinners are atmospheric affairs that reflect the camp’s timeless and elegant spirit.
Activity
Experiences at Jack’s Camp are like nowhere else in Africa. Guests can enjoy quad biking across the salt flats (seasonally), walk with Zu/’hoasi Bushmen trackers for cultural insight, and encounter habituated meerkats in close proximity. During the green season, the region hosts one of Africa’s largest zebra and wildebeest migrations. Game drives, star gazing, horse riding (for experienced riders), and birding complete the diverse activity offering in this dreamlike environment.
