Set within the private Ntiakitiak River Valley, Richard’s River Camp was originally established as a family’s private retreat, and that warmth and intimacy still define the experience today. The camp blends understated luxury with a strong conservation ethos, and is known for its deep relationship with the local community and its commitment to preserving the surrounding ecosystem. With just a handful of tents and a dedicated team, the atmosphere is peaceful, welcoming, and entirely tailored to each guest.

Rooms

There are only seven luxury tents at the camp, each beautifully appointed with a mix of canvas, wood and locally inspired décor. The spacious interiors feature king-size beds, soft textiles, and en-suite bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets, while private verandas overlook the river or surrounding bush. Designed to feel both luxurious and close to nature, the tents provide the perfect balance of comfort and immersion.

Dining

Meals at Richard’s River Camp are fresh, flavourful, and thoughtfully prepared, often using produce from the camp’s own garden. Dining is typically al fresco under the shade of trees or beneath the stars, with settings shifting based on the day’s rhythm. The cuisine blends international dishes with local ingredients, and the team is happy to personalise menus to suit individual tastes and dietary preferences, all served with warm, attentive hospitality.

Activity

Days at the camp revolve around expertly guided game drives through the Mara ecosystem, rich with lion, leopard, elephant and the famed Great Migration at the right time of year. Bush walks, sundowners, and cultural visits with nearby Maasai communities offer deeper engagement with the land and its people. With very few other vehicles in the area, guests enjoy an unhurried and exclusive wildlife experience that feels both thrilling and deeply serene.
