Fundu Lagoon

Set on the secluded island of Pemba, just North of Zanzibar, Fundu Lagoon is a rare gem. Live out your wildest Robinson Crusoe fantasies when you stay at this quintessentially East African retreat, also known as one of the best diving spots in the Indian Ocean.

Privately owned and run with a love for the surrounding natural environment, it is remote, peaceful and the epitome of shabby chic – stylish, indulgent and totally relaxed. One of my favourites.
Rooms
There are three different levels of luxury at this camp, tented rooms (both hill view and beach view), suites and luxury suites. The eighteen various room types are either down on the beach or slightly up a hill with breathtaking views and a light ocean breeze. All room types come with large comfortable beds draped in a mosquito net, ceiling fans, a minibar stocked with your choice of beverage and an ensuite bathroom complete with hot running water. The main difference with the suites is the size with a large lounging space included equipped with a private plunge pool.
Facilities
The main area is built out of wood and raised up on the natural incline of the coastline. There is a prominent bar that dominates the upper central area with the main restaurant to one side. A small area filled with cushions and bean bags is hidden by the bar, and there is a TV room with pool table in a separate unit nearby. On the other side of the property there is an enormous pool with a pool and restaurant, famous for the happy hour cocktails. There is also a sunset bar located at the lodge side of the very long pier.
Activities
The activities here are extensive including, wind surfing, sailing, diving, snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking and fishing.
Children
Fundu Lagoon welcomes children aged 12 and over. Standard Rooms and Suites can fit an additional single bed, and Superior Suites have space for two.
