Wolwedans Boulders Camp

About

Located around three hours south of Wolwedans’ other camps, Boulders Camp is designed for guests seeking to venture far beyond the beaten track. The camp sits at the base of a dramatic granite formation, with towering mountains behind and an expansive desert landscape stretching into the distance. Its small scale and remote setting create an exceptionally private atmosphere, while the architecture is carefully integrated into the rocky surroundings. Boulders is part of the 220,000-hectare NamibRand Nature Reserve, where Wolwedans combines low-impact tourism with conservation and sustainable development.  

Rooms

Boulders Camp accommodates a maximum of 10 guests in five spacious tented rooms, each designed to take full advantage of the surrounding wilderness. The rooms open on three sides to capture the cooling afternoon breeze and feature generous private decks, separate spacious bathrooms and shaded salas for relaxing during the warmer hours. Every space is oriented towards the extraordinary views, while Suites 2 and 3 and Suites 4 and 5 share plunge pools, and Suite 1 has its own private plunge pool.  

Dining

The main camp features an elegant dining and lounge tent alongside a breakfast deck, library and open fireplace, creating relaxed spaces in which to enjoy meals and unwind between desert adventures. Dining is complemented by the remarkable setting, with the camp’s elevated surroundings providing panoramic views across the gravel plains. Sundowners can be enjoyed from the top of a nearby mountain plateau, turning the end of the day into a memorable desert ritual.  

Activity

Boulders Camp focuses on immersive exploration of the remote southern NamibRand. Guided morning and evening scenic drives reveal the changing colours and landscapes of the desert, while full-day scenic safaris and two- to three-hour Bushman walks offer opportunities to explore the ancient hunting grounds and discover the area’s natural and cultural heritage. Guests can also enjoy e-biking on fat bikes, desert sundowners and an Antares naked-eye star safari, with horse riding and a Heart & Home Village tour possible when arranged well in advance.
