Wolwedans Dune Camp

About

Set within the 220,000-hectare NamibRand Nature Reserve, Dune Camp was the starting point for the Wolwedans story, which began in 1995 with just four simple tents. Today, the camp retains that pioneering spirit while offering a more refined take on desert living. Positioned high on the edge of a dune, it looks across vast plains and distant mountains, with natural textures, handcrafted furnishings and a warm, earthy palette reflecting the surrounding landscape. Wolwedans places sustainability and conservation at the heart of its operation, with the wider collection supporting the protection of the NamibRand and sustainable development within the region.  

Rooms

Dune Camp has six spacious tented rooms plus a two-room Family Suite, accommodating up to 16 guests. Raised on wooden platforms, the tents feature comfortable king-size beds, indoor and outdoor bathrooms and private decks overlooking the desert. Each deck includes a daybed that can be transformed into a Star Bed, allowing guests to sleep beneath the exceptionally clear Namibian night sky. The Family Suite offers two en-suite bedrooms, a children’s sala, private dining area and its own deck with uninterrupted desert views.  

Dining

Dining is relaxed and sociable, with guests able to choose between shared meals and more private settings. Freshly prepared dishes are served in the main dining area, while the Silo Bar provides a stylish setting for sundowners and evening drinks. Special meals can also be arranged in secluded desert locations, including breakfasts among the dunes and dinners beneath the stars, allowing the extraordinary landscape to become part of the dining experience.  

Activity

Experiences focus on slowing down and discovering the extraordinary NamibRand landscape. Guided scenic drives explore the dunes, plains and mountains, while Bushman walks offer insight into the ancient traditions and knowledge of the San people. Guests can also enjoy e-biking, horse riding, hot-air ballooning and dedicated desert sleep-outs, or simply embrace the remarkable silence and vastness of the reserve. Stargazing is particularly special, with Dune Camp’s Star Beds offering an unforgettable way to experience the Namib’s exceptionally clear night skies.
