About

Set deep within the 220,000-hectare NamibRand Nature Reserve, Desert Lodge occupies an exceptional position overlooking orange-hued dunes, rugged mountains and vast open skies. Recently refreshed with handcrafted furnishings, layered natural textures and an earthy design inspired by its surroundings, the lodge retains the atmosphere of a tented camp while offering the comfort and protection of a permanent structure. Sustainability is central to the Wolwedans philosophy, with the wider operation supporting conservation of the NamibRand, local communities and sustainable development in the region.  

Rooms

Desert Lodge has 10 spacious tented rooms, including three Family Rooms, all positioned to maximise the spectacular desert views. Each room features a private verandah, king or twin beds, a private Wolwedans Chiller and Wi-Fi, with wooden walkways connecting the accommodation to the main areas. The Family Rooms include additional sleeping space for children, making the lodge suitable for both couples and families seeking an immersive desert escape.  

Dining

Dining at Desert Lodge is relaxed and sociable, with several inviting spaces spread across decks overlooking the dunes. Guests can gather in the main dining areas for freshly prepared meals, relax in the lounges or enjoy drinks at the spacious bar. The outdoor fire pit and surrounding decks provide particularly atmospheric settings for sundowners and evening gatherings, with the ever-changing desert scenery forming a natural backdrop.  

Activity

Experiences at Desert Lodge are centred on exploring the remarkable NamibRand landscape. Guided scenic drives venture across dunes, plains and mountains, with sunrise, sunset and full-day outings available, while desert sundowners offer a memorable way to experience the changing colours of the landscape. Guests can also enjoy horse riding, e-biking, bush walks and opportunities to experience the exceptional night skies of this remote desert environment.
