About

Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the dry Aba-Huab River Valley, Wilderness Doro Nawas enjoys a spectacular setting between the Etendeka Mountains and the ancient sandstone formations of Twyfelfontein. Built in partnership with the local Doro !Nawas Conservancy, the lodge is recognised for its commitment to community-led conservation and sustainable tourism. Constructed from natural stone, timber, canvas and thatch, it blends seamlessly into the surrounding desert landscape while offering easy access to Damaraland’s extraordinary rock art, unique geology and desert-adapted wildlife.  

Rooms

Accommodation comprises 16 spacious suites crafted from natural materials that reflect the colours and textures of the surrounding landscape. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto private verandas with sweeping desert views, while en-suite bathrooms feature indoor facilities and outdoor showers. Guests can also roll their beds onto the deck for an unforgettable night sleeping beneath Namibia’s exceptionally clear, star-filled skies.

Dining at Doro Nawas celebrates fresh seasonal ingredients served in relaxed indoor and outdoor settings overlooking the vast plains. Bush breakfasts, scenic lunches and dinners beneath the stars create memorable moments, while sundowners on the lodge’s rooftop viewing deck offer spectacular panoramas as the desert glows in shades of gold and crimson. Warm Namibian hospitality and locally inspired cuisine complete the experience.  

Activities

Activities focus on discovering the unique landscapes and wildlife of Damaraland. Guided nature drives and walks offer opportunities to encounter desert-adapted elephants, black rhino, oryx and endemic birdlife, while excursions to the UNESCO-listed Twyfelfontein rock engravings, Organ Pipes, Burnt Mountain, the Petrified Forest and the Damara Living Museum provide fascinating insights into the region’s geology, history and culture. Stargazing beneath some of the darkest skies in the world is a highlight of every stay.
