Kisawa Sanctuary

Kisawa Sanctuary is an ultra-exclusive luxury retreat set on the southern tip of Benguerra Island in Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago, offering a rare combination of privacy, innovation and natural beauty. Spread across 300 hectares of coastal forest, dunes and beachfront, the sanctuary delivers a deeply immersive barefoot-luxury experience where space, seclusion and personalised service define the stay.

Kisawa is the brainchild of founder and creative director Nina Flohr. It has the perfect blend of sustainable luxury, escape, indulgence and culture.
About
Founded with a pioneering approach to sustainability, Kisawa blends traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, including the use of 3D-printed structures made from natural materials. The sanctuary operates with a strong conservation ethos, closely linked to the Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies, supporting marine research and ecosystem protection. The atmosphere is serene and highly personalised, with each guest experience tailored to individual preferences in a setting that feels both contemporary and deeply connected to its surroundings.
Rooms
Accommodation at Kisawa consists of a collection of expansive private residences, each occupying its own large plot of land with direct access to the beach. Residences feature multiple pavilions, private infinity pools, outdoor decks and generous living spaces, all designed to maximise privacy and ocean views. Interiors use natural textures, soft tones and artisanal details to create a refined yet organic feel, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.
Dining
Dining at Kisawa is entirely bespoke, with menus crafted around fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including seafood from the surrounding waters and produce from the sanctuary’s gardens. Guests can dine wherever they choose — in their residence, on the beach, or in one of the shared spaces — with experiences tailored to mood and occasion. The culinary style is refined yet relaxed, focusing on quality, creativity and a strong sense of place.
Activity
Activities at Kisawa centre on the pristine marine environment and surrounding island landscapes. Guests can enjoy snorkelling and diving in vibrant coral reefs, dhow sailing, deep-sea fishing and island-hopping across the Bazaruto Archipelago. On land, guided nature walks, horse riding, wellness treatments and cultural experiences offer further ways to connect with the destination. The sanctuary also provides opportunities to engage with marine conservation initiatives, adding a meaningful dimension to the stay.
