Originally conceived as a family getaway, Coot Club has evolved into a thoughtfully designed retreat that celebrates its natural surroundings and laid-back lifestyle. The property is centred around the lagoon, with wooden jetties, boats and open landscapes creating a sense of space and connection to the outdoors. The atmosphere is informal yet stylish, with a focus on simplicity, privacy and nature.

Rooms

Accommodation consists of a small collection of individually designed cottages, each positioned for privacy and views over the lagoon or surrounding landscape. Interiors combine rustic charm with contemporary comfort, featuring fireplaces, well-equipped kitchens, comfortable living spaces and outdoor decks. The cottages feel like private homes, making them particularly well suited to couples, families or small groups.

Dining

Dining at Coot Club is flexible and relaxed, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Guests can enjoy meals at the Clubhouse restaurant, which offers simple, flavourful dishes, or opt for self-catering within their cottages. Picnic hampers, braai (barbecue) experiences and casual outdoor dining options reflect the easygoing, home-from-home feel of the property.

Activity

Activities centre around the lagoon and surrounding nature, with opportunities for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, sailing and birdwatching in the wetlands. Guests can also enjoy cycling, walking trails and nearby beach excursions along the Overberg coastline. Whale watching in nearby Hermanus (seasonal), wine tasting in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and exploring the charming village of Stanford add further variety.
