Located on Pemba Island, situated off the eastern coast of Tanzania and north of Zanzibar, The Aiyana's surroundings are lush and green with Manta Beach within walking distance and Vumawimbi Beach close by. The Aiyana sits at the very north of the island within the vicinity of the Ngezi Forest Reserve.

Built using local knowledge and natural resources, this African getaway's tranquil atmosphere and remote setting makes it easy to embrace their ethos of 'just being'.

Accommodation at The Aiyana

The Aiyana has 30 spacious and inviting villas, all designed with neutral tones and modern touches. With direct beach access, each villa has views over the lagoon, coral reef and Indian Ocean, and feature en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, plus open air lounge space, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of Pemba Island. The villas are clean and simple in their design but this works really well – it creates an elegant beach ambiance which contrasts nicely with the vibrant green tones of the island. Larger villas have private pools.

Activities at The Aiyana

Whilst the vibe here is 'the art of doing nothing', there is still plenty to do at The Aiyana. Pemba is paradise for divers and snorkelers; the untouched coral reefs surrounding the entire island are home to an abundance of marine life. In addition, there's kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, fishing or go for an island or plantation tour. Bicycles are also available to rent if you’d like to explore the island during your stay. If a pampering session is the order of the day, the spa and wellness centre offers restorative treatments using natural products inspired by the plant life of the Indian Ocean.

Dining at The Aiyana

The resort's ocean view restaurant serves farm to table style dishes, local seafood and African inspired delicacies. Decide where you would like to enjoy your culinary experience, whether it be lunch in your villa or a candlelit beach dinner under the stars.
